Verzasca-Gneis — 8) Verzasca gneiss For centuries, gneiss quarried in Valle Verzasca (also dubbed Verzasca granite) has been used locally for building purposes. The village of Corippo, for instance, is made almost entirely of local gneiss. Of the once numerous quarries, only one has survived near Brione Verzasca.
